Dr.Shobha Sundareswaran

MDS ,Professor, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics

Dr Shobha Sundareswaran completed her BDS as rank holder and Gold Medallist from Government Dental College, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. After obtaining the First rank in the First Kerala Post graduate entrance examination, she went on to complete her MDS in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics also from Government Dental College, Thiruvananthapuram in 1986. She is also a Diplomate of the Indian Board of Orthodontics. She is a member of the IDA, Indian Society for Dental Research, Indian Orthodontic Society, World Federation of Orthodontics and American Association of Orthodontists.

She joined the Kerala Medical Education Service in 1984 and has served in the capacity of Professor and Head of Orthodontics at Government Dental Colleges in Kottayam, Thiruvananthapuram and Calicut. With a teaching experience of 38 years, she retired from Government service on 30/04/2022 as Professor and Head of the Department of Orthodontics, Government Dental College, Calicut, Kerala.

She is the proud Recipient of many awards –

1. Received “The Best Teacher Award - 2019” from Hon. Governor of Kerala, Shri Arif Mohammed Khan, (of the Kerala University of Health Sciences) instituted by the Government of Kerala for outstanding teachers in the medical field.
2. Received National award -- “Distinguished Woman Orthodontist -- 2021” conferred by the Indian Orthodontic Society to eminent Women orthodontists with exclusive contributions
3. National Award – “A. V. Arun Outstanding Professor Award” bestowed to “Eminent Professor of Orthodontics with exceptional contributions at National level”
4. “Lifetime Achievement Award” by Indian Orhodontic Society in 2022
