MANUSCRIPT GUIDELINES

Before sending a manuscript contributors are requested to check for the author guidelines.

                 Individuals identified as authors must meet the following criteria established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors: 1) substantial contributions to conception and design, or acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data; 2) drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content; and 3) final approval of the version to be published.

                 The order of authorship on the byline should be a joint decision of the co-authors. For a study carried out in a single institute, the number of authors should not exceed six. For a case-report and for a review article, the number of authors should not exceed four. For short communication, the number of authors should not be more than three.

Word limit

Original research articles: Up to 2500 words excluding references and abstract.

Short Communication: Up to 1000 words excluding references and abstract and up to 5 references.

Case reports: Up to 2000 words excluding references and abstract and up to 10 references.

Review articles: Up to 3500 words excluding references and abstract.

Letter to the Editor: Up to 400 words and 4 references.

Announcements of conferences, meetings, courses, awards, and other items: Up to 100 words.

 Article file should be typed in justified manner with 1.15 space between the lines. Do not use uppercase for sub headings. Prepare subheadings in Bold–Sentence case format without underlining

All articles should carry a covering letter.

The article page should carry

1. Type of manuscript
2. The title of the article, which should be concise, but informative;
3. Name of the authors (the way it should appear in the journal), with his or her highest academic degree(s) and institutional affiliation;
4. The name of the department(s) and institution(s) to which the work should be attributed;
5. The name, address, phone numbers, facsimile numbers, and e-mail address of the contributor responsible for correspondence about the manuscript;

 

Do not zip the files. Limit the file size to 1 MB. Do not incorporate images in the file.

Images

Submit good quality color images. Each image should be less than 4 MB in size. All common image formats (jpeg, gif, bmp, png) are acceptable; jpeg is most suitable. Do not zip the files.

Legends

 Legends for the figures/images should be included at the end of the article file.

Abstract and Key Words

An abstract should be of no more than 150 words for case reports, brief reports and 250 words for original articles. The structured abstract, should consist of no more than 250 words and the following four paragraphs: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions

Manuscript should be prepared in the following subheadings

Introduction,Materials and Methods,Results,Discussion,References

References

References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they appear in the text. All references are identified, whether they appear in the text, tables, or legends, by Arabic numbers in superscript after the punctuation mark. References should be typed double-spaced

Tables

 Tables should be numbered consecutively in Arabic numbers in the order of their appearance in the text. A brief descriptive title should be supplied for each.

Figures& Figure Legends

Digital files must be submitted for all figures. Submit one file per figure.Legends should be typed double-spaced with Arabic numbers corresponding to the figure.

Statistics

Statistical methods should be described such that a knowledgeable reader with access to the original data could verify the results. Wherever possible, results should be quantified and appropriate indicators of measurement error or uncertainty given.

Footnotes 

Footnotes should be used only to identify author affiliation; to explain symbols in tables and illustrations; and to identify manufacturers of equipment, medications, materials, and devices. Use the following symbols in the sequence shown: *, †, ‡, §, k, ¶, #, **, ††, etc. 

 

The manuscripts will be reviewed for possible publication with the understanding that they are being submitted to one journal at a time and have not been published, simultaneously submitted, or already accepted for publication elsewhere. The Editors will review all submitted manuscripts initially. The contributors will be informed about the reviewers' comments and acceptance/rejection of manuscript. Articles accepted would be sent for revision to the authors for grammar, punctuation, print style, and format. All manuscripts received are duly acknowledged through email.

The Dental Bites Journal shall own the work. We give the rights to the corresponding author to make necessary changes as per the request of the journal, do the rest of the correspondence on our behalf and he/she will act as the guarantor for the manuscript on our behalf. All persons who have made substantial contributions to the work reported in the manuscript, but who are not contributors, are named in the Acknowledgment and have given me/us their written permission to be named. If I/we do not include an Acknowledgment that means I/we have not received substantial contributions from non-contributors and no contributor has been omitted.

Up to 4 contributors for case reports/ review & Up to 6 contributors for original studies (in the order in which the names are to appear in the journal)
