Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry

ABOUT THE SPECIALTY AND DEPARTMENT

Pediatric dentistry is an age-defined specialty that provides. both primary and COMPREHENSIVE PREVENTIVE and therapeutic. oral health care for infants and children through adolescence, including those with SPECIAL HEALTH CARE NEEDS.

The department was established in the year 2006, under the able guidance of Dr. Ramakrishnan E with the theme of “care for little gems”. For us it was not just about the children's smile, it was also critical to build a complete and accessible continuous connection between the dentist and the patient, which is referred to be the patient's "dental home."  This is due to the fact that early oral examination aids in the detection of early stages of tooth decay. Early diagnosis is critical for maintaining oral health, modify aberrant habits, and treating as needed and as easily as feasible. Additionally, parents are given a preventive home care programme (brushing, flossing, and fluorides), a caries risk assessment, information on finger, thumb, and pacifier habits, and may include advice on preventing injuries to children's mouths and teeth, diet counselling, and growth and development information.
